Background/Situation: DTD Burgers is the exclusive franchisee for Five Guys Burgers & Fries in North and Central Illinois.  Five Guys is a fresh burgers and fries concept that was founded in 1986 in the Washington D.C. area and is quickly spreading throughout the United States.  The burgers are made with fresh, never frozen, high-quality beef that is hand formed every morning and cooked in an open kitchen environment.  The fries are made from fresh, ultra high-quality potatoes that are hand cut every morning.  Five Guys Burgers & Fires is one of the leading quick serve casual restaurant concepts in the United States.

Our role and results:  The principals of Wolverine Capital invested in this exclusive franchise territory in Illinois alongside an experienced food & beverage management team member.  DTD Burgers negotiated and entered into a development agreement and franchise agreement with Five Guys Burgers & Fries for this exclusive franchise territory.  Wolverine Capital created a structure that poised this entity with capital for rapid growth and opening multiple locations, without being dependent on bank financing.  DTD Burgers has achieved the following initiatives:

• Conducted extensive site selection process throughout the franchise territory
• Opened the first two locations within five months in Rockford, Illinois and Peoria, Illinois
• Achieved systemwide sales per location that exceed the national average
• Implemented an incentive compensation program for all employees
